Michael is Making Space for Side Projects

Posted on May 15, 2020May 15, 2020

“I believe the best things in life come in unexpected packages. So, when opportunities present themselves I have made it my life motto to always say yes. The best experiences of my life happened when I was asked to do something outside of my comfort zone and I did it. I became student body vice president when my friend asked me to do it with him even though I had a paralyzing fear of public speaking, and I learned some of the most valuable life skills and opened many doors for my future. I overcame my biggest fear – sharks – by just saying yes to the opportunity. Thus, I have learned in order to grow into the person I want to be I have to never let an opportunity pass me by. This has taught me me that I must follow any inkling of curiosity to maximize my chance of finding my passion.”

Share your journey and why this is important to you

The endeavor to find a passion: this is the dream of every current student and young adult. Thus, it is important to me to aspire in the same way. I am making space for side projects in order to try as many different things that interest me to find a path I want to follow. The idea of finding things that pique my interest and following them into projects allows me to figure out what I do and don’t want out of jobs, hobbies, and life. This is the most fun way and efficient way to conduct a trial and error with my future path.

How would you like to inspire others?

I would like to inspire others to make small changes to create space in their lives. Little things matter. The small changes compound on one another and cause a ripple effect. I want to inspire the little idea of changing one no into a yes. By saying yes one time and having a positive experience, it could change an attitude and lead to something better. So, say “yes” to making just a little bit of space in your lives to hopefully lead you to an unexpected better path.
