Maddy is Making Space for Imagination

Posted on May 27, 2020June 3, 2020

“There was a time in my life when I was so filled to the brim with story ideas that I could hardly go a day without putting words onto paper. As school, work, and life circumstances became more demanding, my love for creative writing has been pushed to the side. I constantly regret not flexing these creative muscles as much as I used to, because I sometimes feel like I have really lost the passion for writing which I once harbored. I want to ignite this spark again and be my own inspiration for getting involved in writing both creatively and professionally.”

Maddy Holman, Student at University of Cincinnati

Make Space for Imagination with LifeSpace

Share your journey and why this is important to you

I tend to get lost in routines of simply doing work that I am told to do, which scarcely leaves time to let my mind roam free. Sometimes I feel that I have lost touch with the creative, imaginative sides of my mind, and I want to give myself more space to explore them. When I fully focus on my expressive side, I feel like the best version of myself. This is especially true in writing and other forms of artistic expression. They say that the only way to be good at writing is to write all the time, even when you don’t want to, even if you feel like you have nothing to say. I want to find out what I still have left to say and reconnect with my favorite parts of myself.

How would you like to inspire others?

I hope that by watching my journey to rekindle my love for creative writing, other people are inspired to go after a lost love of their own. So often in our lives, we turn on ourselves when we allow our everyday responsibilities to suffocate our passions. More than anything else, I hope to remind others that it is okay to allow yourself to have those passions in life that you do solely for the purpose of enjoying what you are doing. Allow yourself to make space for your imagination, for your creativity, and for your growth.
