What area are you “making space” for?
“I have always loved art since I was a child. I believe that if you have a hobby that makes you happy, it is important to engage in it regularly to destress from work, life, school, etc. I love to draw and write, which are creative hobbies in of themselves. Being able to create something using your heart and soul is extremely fulfilling and healthy.”

Make Space for Creative Hobbies with LifeSpace
Share your journey and why this is important to you
I stopped drawing regularly near the end of my high school career due to being overwhelmed with studies. It was a very stressful time, and not allowing myself time to engage with my creative hobbies made my mental health even worse. Now I make sure to draw or write a few times a week. It makes all the difference in keeping me happy and mentally healthy enough to tackle life!

How would you like to inspire others?
I would like to inspire others by sharing my story. I used to think that majoring in STEM was so competitive that doing anything besides studying or working was a waste of time. Now I know that indulging in creative hobbies is very important. I would like to tell others that engaging in hobbies regularly is totally possible and necessary as a dutiful college student. You shouldn’t feel guilty about setting aside some personal time for your hobbies every day!
