What area are you “making space” for?
“I am graduating from UCF in the Spring and this deadline has been giving me a lot of anxiety. Society still pressures us to choose a career, something to commit to for a large portion of our lives, but no matter what I decide to do I should be confident that the choice I make is mine, and I can be proud of it.
Using self care strategies helps me decompress some of this pressure, and has helped me take the necessary steps to be prepared for what lies beyond graduation.”

Share your journey and why this is important to you
The end of college is approaching faster than I would have ever expected. The security of going to school, with each semester planned in advance, has been a calming reminder that I am doing the right thing by getting a degree.
Now that I’m close to finally reaching this long-term goal, I must find something new to pursue. With my degree, the choices I have to move forward seem endless, and I am overwhelmed by this new wave of opportunity.
I acknowledge my privilege to have attended such a great university, and I refuse to become paralyzed upon graduation with the weight of the world on my shoulders.
For that reason, I knew that what I needed to make space for this year was self care. I have decided to embrace my feelings and challenge myself with unfamiliar situations, allowing myself to explore what lies ahead instead of getting stuck within fear.

How would you like to inspire others?
On this big blue planet, one thing we have in abundance is love. For people who are empathetic like me, sometimes we forget that the most important person to love is ourselves.
I suggest you microwave some popcorn and watch a movie, take a hot bubble bath, or make time to see a friend. No matter how busy you may seem, making space for self care is just as vital as any other responsibility we may encounter.
In the moments you reserve for yourself, do not be judgmental for what you think or feel, but allow yourself to breathe and be calm.
