What area are you “making space” for?
“I don’t believe that life is worth living if you aren’t spending it pursuing your passions and dreams. I have a passion for writing, and I dream of being successful at it.
It’s really that simple. I believe that life is often simpler than we try to make it. I am now ready to put myself out there as a writer, and so that’s what I’m trying to do.”
Daniel Reed, Student at Texas State University

I am making space for writing because I strongly feel like it should play a much bigger role in my life. Writing is a passion of mine. Sometimes I stumble over words in person, or struggle to find the best way to express my thoughts, but things always seem to flow when it’s just me and the paper.
I’ve been writing for as long as I can remember. During my childhood I was told I had a gift, and ever since, I’ve spent time cultivating it. Though, not as much time as I probably should have. As of right now I try to use my free time to occasionally write/publish boxing articles and work on my ongoing novel. But in-between college work and my dwindling social life, it can be hard to stay on task and prioritize my own personal writings. This year I am pledging to dedicate more of my time to writing.
I want to publish articles consistently, finish my book, write more short stories, and do everything I can to make the most of this talent without slowing down or getting discouraged. My ultimate goal is to improve my life, and one of the best ways I can do that is by making more time to write.
No matter what I write about, writing is like therapy to me. I’m ready to kick start this new stage of my life, and I am excited to see what the future could hold. I want to be a successful writer, and I am determined to put everything towards achieving that goal, starting this year. After all, as Jodi Picoult says, “You can always edit a bad page. You can’t edit a blank page”.

How would you like to inspire others?
I just hope that other people make the decision to go after their passions. I hope they feel the same fire in their belly that I feel to pursue my own dreams, and that they aren’t resigned to a normal life of punching into a clock every morning.
Whether it’s writing, psychology, nursing, architecture, or physics, everyone deserves to spend their life doing something that they are passionate about. Something that gives them more life.
