“For a long time, especially in my younger schooling years, I focused much more making other people happy than making myself happy. This led to me feeling bored, secluded, and miserable, which feels just about as nasty as it sounds.
I also know passion matters because I’ve seen many of my friends lose sight of theirs, even giving up on them entirely because they didn’t think they were important enough. It broke my heart every time. This, combined with my own neglect of my passions, led to a realization that hit me in the face like a brick: I shouldn’t be brushing off what makes me happy. I need to embrace it when circumstances try to push it away.”

Make Space for Passion with LifeSpace
Share your journey and why this is important to you
Following your passions is important for various reasons. Whatever it is that you like to do, following your passions allows you to express yourself, and it allows you to explore multiple lifestyle paths. This exploration can lead you to figure out what you want to do with your career, help you hone a craft, or simply uncover something you previously didn’t know you were good at. It can also just add joy to your daily life. In any of these cases, passions enrich and improve your life.

How would you like to inspire others?
I’d like to inspire others to schedule, make reminders and block out time for your passions. Even if you’re not particularly busy, it’s super important to make sure that you make time and pace yourself. Whatever your passion may be–painting, baking, gardening, playing a sport–make sure you always create time to do something you love, something that develops who you are, and something that improves your well-being.
