ChatGPT – Stop Using Over Embellished “Rhetorical Flourishes”

Posted on April 27, 2025April 27, 2025

ChatGPT has to stop using these lame, over embellished phrases when writing business articles and blogs. I’ve included 25 of them below. What did I miss?

“In the era of technological marvels…”

“In today’s business climate, one cannot overlook…”

“Amidst the ever-evolving landscape of the industry…”

“In the world where innovation reigns supreme…”

“As we navigate the complex tapestry of the market…”

“In an age where digital transformation dictates…”

“Against the backdrop of a rapidly changing economy…”

“In the midst of unprecedented shifts in consumer behavior…”

“At the intersection of technology and commerce…”

“In the throes of a competitive global marketplace…”

“In a realm where agility and adaptability are king…”

“As the paradigm of business undergoes seismic shifts…”

“In the crucible of corporate strategy and innovation…”

“At the vanguard of industry 4.0…”

“In the pantheon of entrepreneurial excellence…”

“As we stand on the precipice of a new business epoch…”

“In the annals of corporate history, it is said…”

“Navigating the labyrinthine complexities of the modern economy…”

“In the golden age of startups and disruption…”

“As the tapestry of commerce weaves its narratives…”

“In the echelons of high-stakes corporate gambits…”

“Amidst the swirling tides of market forces…”

“In the forge of relentless innovation and competition…”

“As we bear witness to the dawn of a new era in business…”

“In the sanctum of the boardroom, where decisions shape futures…”

ChatGPT went on to explain:

These types of starters are often referred to as “prefabricated language,” “set phrases,” “canned phrases,” or “stock phrases.” In the context of writing, especially in a more formal or stylized setting like business articles or academic papers, they might also be called “rhetorical flourishes” or “literary devices.” These phrases are designed to set a tone or establish a context, and they can sometimes be seen as grandiose or overly formal, which may not always align with contemporary conversational language or straightforward writing styles.

Our team goes out of its way to instruct ChatGPT to speak in a more modern voice, and always in the voice of YOU, the content creator, and not the general knowledge of ChatGPT. Some people hate when AI writes content, but I just hate when AI embellishes and “rhetorically flourishes” on topics that otherwise can be written plainly and directly.
